Diagnostic Services
We take care for your vehicle
What causes the check Engine light to appear?
These days, just about every vehicle has a complicated system underneath the hood. For one, there are on-board computers that always check on the status of the car’s performance. If the warning light comes on, it’s because the computer detected something out of the ordinary when monitoring a component. It fires off a command to the light to turn on so you’ll know something is weird.
When Should You Seek Diagnostics For Your Car?
The most common car operating issues that will require further testing and a diagnosis of the vehicle include:
– Emissions failure
– Steering control
– Engine performance
– Illuminated dashboard warning lights.
How Can Vehicle Diagnostic Services Diagnose the Problem?
We have the experience, the tools and the technology needed to determine the problem with your vehicle, whether it’s due to a Check Engine light or an ABS Warning.
Though the specifics of our vehicle diagnostic service will vary from situation to situation, it generally follows a path like this:
1. Gather Information
We use a scan tool to communicate with the car’s onboard computer to gather a series of information:
– Freeze frame data
– Computer codes
– Software version numbers
– Status information and sensor data
Keep in mind that just getting the codes doesn’t give us enough information to tell you the problem right away; this is just how we start the process of elimination.
2. Verification
We will then check whether the system specifications are being met, which can include analyzing:
– Fuel system
– Emissions system
– Ignition system
– Engine vacuum and backpressure
– Engine timing
If any of these basic systems fail, it can make the Check Engine light appear, falsely blaming a component as the cause. We complete verification to avoid unnecessary parts replacement to save you money.
3. Precision Testing
Pinpoint testing is required by all manufacturers to gather the more accurate discovery during our vehicle diagnostic service. To do this, we perform the following steps:
– Visually inspect the potential suspects
– Bi-directional control tests
– Mechanical and/or electrical tests
– Test the wiring diagrams
4. Examine Technical Service Bulletins
This information can give us an idea whether the problem is due to a pattern, which means it would be a known problem to happen with your specific make and model of vehicle.
While we still need to continue testing at this stage, however, since the other systems must have passed their tests to have performed this step.
5. Repair the Car
Depending on the problem, we may take several actions as a result of our car diagnostic services:
– Replace faulty parts
– Fix or replace wiring
– Perform manufacturer updates
– Clean components
6. Repair Verification
After we’ve finished the repairs, we will retest all parts to ensure the correct results are returned.
